Surfcaster Allen Riley Comments On The BigT Lure Line:

Dick Fincher at Phase II Lures continues to come up with new lures that offer surfcasters lots of opportunities to match bait fish and challenging various species of fish while doing so. One of his newest lures is his BIG T. Like all Phase II lures, the BIG T is hand-carved in America from cedar.

The two-ounce weight -- and the tail-weighted feature -- of the BIG T adds to its castability although its aerodynamics (like many plugs) does not lend itself to extremely long casts. Its profile closely resembles that of the sand eels which were so dominant in the New Jersey surf last season. The lure can be retrieved slowly leaving a V-wake on the surface or erratically which generates a splashing sensation. However it is fished, its profile and action will appeal to a wide range of predators including striped bass, bluefish, weakfish, and even exotic species like false albacore and bonito.

As a surfcaster, I appreciate how effective this lure can be when worked through the surf but boat anglers can also use it as a dynamite trolling lure.

I like the color options: white/red, black/red, chartreuse/red, and pink. My personal preference is the white/red. The options are all good ones.
